CyFlow Space - Flow Cytometer
Applications
The CyFlow® Space is a bench-top Flow Cytometer designed for cell and microscopic particle analysis and absolute counting (True Absolute Volumetric Counting - TVAC).
It´s a compact multi-colour instrument for analysis of individual cells and microscopic particles in suspension. The advanced flow cytometry technology of the CyFlow Space covers a wide range of different applications.
The GDC instrument however is specifically set up for:
- Ploidy level estimation
- Genome size estimation
- Cell counting

Installed:
Green solid state laser: 532nm
High power UV LED: 365nm
Specification:
- Maximum acquisition rate up to 25,000 signals/s
- Scatter particle size: 0.1 – 100 µm
- Fluorescence sensitivity: < 100 MESF (FITC), < 50 MESF (PE)
Reference genomes available for poidy measurement and genome size estimation:
- Drosophila melanogaster breed as reference at GDC. Genome size 1C =0.18pg, Megabases haploid: 176 MB
- Chicken Red Blood Cells (CRBC). Tissue: Erythrocytes from a female, in freezing medium for live cells (DMEM plus DMSO). Genome size 1C =1.075, Megabases haploid: 1051.35 Mb
- Trout. Tissue: red blood cells. However, should not be used as a standard for genome size determination according to Labforce as cells are fixed and stained. 2C: 4.9 to 6.3 pg for various of trout, Megabases unknown.
Staining kits available:
- Cystain UV ploidy (DAPI colour used with UV)
- Propodium Iodid (PI used with green laser)
