About the GDC
Our goal is to provide access to managed instruments, to train users individually and to share expertise in generating and analyzing genetic and genomic data, with a main focus on non-model organisms. The Genetic Diversity Centre (GDC) has an active user community and its long-term employees ensure the transfer of know-how within the GDC network.
Initially founded in 2008 by the Institute for Integrative Biology (IBZ), the GDC became 2009 a departmental platform of D-USYS. In the meantime, the GDC is a well-established facility. It is open to all academic institutions in Switzerland and has thus developed a large community from many different academic institutions.
Over the years, 213 Download user groups (PDF, 209 KB) and 1146 Download projects (PDF, 1 MB) have registered, covering a range of organisms including bacteria, primates, plants, fish, insects and even viruses. The GDC has been acknowledged in 978 peer-reviewed Download publications (PDF, 795 KB).
